Susan Barthos is the President and CEO of Barthos Management Consulting Inc., which was established in Ontario in 1988. The firm leads national and international clients, including individuals, business, government, communities, and non-profit organizations through complex change initiatives, including conflict analysis, consensus facilitation, and mediation.
Susan has a Bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master’s degree in community economic development. Her professional mediation training and certification is with the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Waterloo and the ADR Institute of Ontario. She has been living and working in Nova Scotia since 2000.
Susan is an approachable and adaptive mediator with superior communication and inter-personal skills. She is a reflective listener and analytical thinker. She specializes in transformative mediation, where success is measured not only in outcome, but also in interpersonal responsiveness and constructive interaction. Mediation takes place in a safe and respectful environment where power imbalances are professionally managed and multi-party differences are resolved collaboratively. Susan uses a sliding fee scale based on family income.
